DEEP PURPLE Compile Footage For Upcoming Documentary

DEEP PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan has reportedly been compiling video footage for an upcoming documentary. In addition, several concerts on the last tour with Jon Lord were recorded, including the second show at London's Hammersmith Apollo (with members of IRON MAIDEN making a guest appearance during "Smoke On The Water"),the gig at Birmingham's NEC and Jon's final appearance in Ipswich. No further information is available at this time.

In related news, DEEP PURPLE guitarist Steve Morse will be releasing a DVD, Sects, Dregs and Rock n' Roll, on November 11th. The DVD will include a complete concert (mixed in 5.1 surround sound) with DIXIE DREGS from 2001, Steve in concert in New York (electric/acoustic show),a lengthy in-depth interview and other various performances. The running time of the DVD is approximately four hours.

Also on the DEEP PURPLE-related front, DP bassist Roger Glover will join GOV'T MULE for a jam on stage at New York's Beacon Theatre on Friday, October 11th. GOV'T MULE mainman Warren Haynes had previously collaborated with Glover on the bassist's recently-issued solo CD, Snapshot.
